Question by Hyper Drive: DAB clock radio loses time when light is turned off/on?
When I turn my bedside lamp on/off my dab clock radio loses the time from it’s digital display. To get the time back I have to tune the radio to a station and then the clock updates. Why is this happening and how can I prevent it? It’s really annoying!!

Answer by wires The only thing I can think of is that turning on the lamp somehow drops the voltage to the clock. If you have the right bulb in the lamp so too big a bulb isn’t the problem, there could be a weak electrical connection that causes a drop in voltage or current as the lamp is turned on. If the lamp in incandescent, there will be a high inrush current as the filament warms up.
I suppose it’s also possible that the lamp switch is faulty or dirty and causes enough noise to confuse the clock, but this wouldn’t be very likely.
